Precision soil nitrogen and leachate testing.
Soil Mineral Nitrogen (SMN) sampling is used to determine the amount of nitrogen which is readily available in soil to enable inputs to be optimised.
As one of the UK’s leading soil sampling companies, Envirofield offers comprehensive SMN sampling on a national basis, with analysis conducted by our partner, Hill Court Farm Research Ltd.
Samples are taken using the Envirocorer Spiker 1000, an efficient and robust machine developed and specifically designed by Envirofield.
Tests include SMN ‘N now’, which determines the nitrogen available directly at the time of sampling, and the SMN Plus Test ‘N now’ and ‘N Later’, measuring N directly available for crop uptake at time of sampling and the N available later in the season through mineralisation of organic matter.
To order a SMN sample, please go to https://hillcourtresearch.co.uk/soil-nitrogen-tests/ or email n-min@envirofield.co.uk.
Porous pots are used to collect soil water leachate samples from a depth of 60 or 90cm to measure nutrient leaching within the soil.
As with SMN sampling, porous pots are installed using the Polaris Ranger Sampler and can be carried out on a small plot or by field basis.
Our customer base includes major utility companies, government bodies and charities.
